Spring is in the Air

Finally, Spring seems like it has arrived in Tallahassee! The weekend weather was absolutely perfect with sunny skies and a light breeze...and even better, daylight savings time which means longer days.

Not wanting to miss being outside in this beautiful weather, our weekend was filled with outdoor activities, some work, some play (mostly play on my part). After running the 10k at Thomasville Road Baptist Church with friends (pictures above), Dan and I went to Tallahassee Nursery to look for another Azalea for our backyard and a few other planting items so we could work in the front and back yards for most of Saturday. We accomplished a lot since we are still settling into our new house and are excited to experience our first Spring here and see what all blooms. Then Sunday morning, I drove to Torreya State Park with three running friends (Chuck, Kay and Robin) to do a run/hike for the morning then cook lunch before making our way back. We were so glad we chose this weekend since the hiking time of year is now. The crisp air and clear blue skies painted the perfect backdrop for our run even on the tough parts of the trail. We managed to get in 9 miles before being so hungry we had to stop for lunch! What a gorgeous area...so anyone who has never been there needs to make the one hour trip this Spring to experience it.

Now it's off to get ready for the Chef Sampler which is tonight and benefits the Children's Home Society in Tallahassee. 50 of the best local restaurants will have food and drink for us to taste from 7pm to 9pm. They don't know what they are offering to the Augustyniaks when they say "all the great food you can eat"...hope they have enough since we're coming!

Happy Spring Everyone!
