Melon Run

The Kiwanis Club of Monticello, Florida sponsors the 5K Melon Run each year starting at 8:15am, this year on June 20, but it's always in the summer heat when the melons are in season. The challenging course takes you through historic, oak-lined streets of town and down the new bike and walking trail. While most of the course is flat, the last mile presents a set of tough hills. You finish at the old Jefferson County High School gym and waiting at the finish line are plenty of water and, you guessed it, freshly cut watermelon.

After the run, Robin Adams has a brunch at her house which is on the race route, this year being the 3rd annual. It was nice to run then get to each delicious breakfast foods with all our running buddies and our newest addition, Robin's puppy, Sophie (pictured below).
