Oo-rah!

The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is 26.2 mile run held on the last Sunday in October. You run through Arlington, Virginia and Washington, D.C. in the race that has been held every year since 1976, and as of 2008, was the nation's 5th-largest race by finishers. The course varies slightly from year to year and the race is also known as "The People's Marathon" because it is the largest race that offers neither prize money nor appearance fees to draw elite runners.

A friend of mine, Vicky Verano, and I, trained all summer for this marathon and both were so happy the weather was perfect on race day in the upper 50s, we had fantastic family and friends crewing for us, and we both finished with smiles on our faces! We also got to see some of the sites while in D.C. and enjoy our Nation's capital city. We recommend this race to anyone since the Marines know how to put together a well-organized and efficient run for first time runners or lifetime marathon participants.
