Labor Day Weekend 2011

We haven't been the best about taking pictures in 2011 so we don't have much to literally show for our three day Labor Day weekend, however, a lot was accomplished, both work and fun.

The project-loving Dan completed his task of framing and painting all our upstairs windows along with painting a closet and installing a new closet system. None of these things are easy jobs in my opinion so I was super impressed with Dan's skills. Once the room is complete, maybe we will even get around to taking some pictures and posting them!

Outside of the home projects, we did manage to have plenty of fun starting with the FSU game on Saturday afternoon against Louisiana-Monroe. The game was a blow-out (34-0) and for once wasn't too hot unlike most of the first FSU games of the season. Tropical Storm Lee was a blessing since the rain didn't roll in until Sunday but the breeze and unseasonably cool (by cool I mean not 100 but in the high 80s, cool by Florida standards in September) temperatures helped us not boil during the game Saturday.

Even though some might not find this fun, on my day off Monday, I was able to attend a Super Circuit class/fundraiser from 9am - 11am (when I'd typically be working) benefiting Jimbo Fisher's son's anemia foundation. The two hour class was for a great cause and was an intense workout along with being a good way to start the day with friends at the gym. Monday evening (after we regained power just in time after a fierce wave of rain/wind came through from what was almost the end of T.S. Lee), we enjoyed dinner at our house with the Augustyniaks (Ed, Becky, Betty and Stefan) celebrating Labor Day and the end of summer. The yummy dinner consisted of brisket (prepared by Stefan), Yukon gold mashed potatoes, salad, tomato and zucchini bake, herb rolls and chocolate pie for dessert. Dan and I are all about working hard over a holiday weekend if it ends with a delicious, home-cooked meal like this! Now cooler temperatures have moved into the North Florida area for the week and we are looking forward to possibly having a "real" fall this year, more FSU football and the holidays which will be here before we know it. Happy end of summer to everyone!
