Pergola

per·go·la/ˈpərgələ/Noun: An archway in a garden or park consisting of a framework covered with trained climbing or trailing plants.

The pergola Dan has been building for the last month in his spare time is almost done. This was a totally new project for him and I think he's done a masterful job. With a few painting touch-ups, it will be complete.

When spring arrives, we are thinking of growing Confederate Jasmine on it and seeing how it does so that we have pretty foliage and shade on our deck that gets super hot in the summertime. I have no idea how Dan manages to build the things he does just by Googling basic instructions, imagination and a little extra manpower from a few friends, but he does which always impresses me since I can't build a thing! This is supposedly his last project for a while but we will see how that goes. When an idea hits him, whether in the middle of the night or on a Sunday afternoon, he has to build it. Now, if he tells me we have to build a baseball field in our backyard like in "Field of Dreams", I might have to finally stop him:)
