Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving tradition for me is running in the Tallahassee Turkey Trot in Southwood. Today the weather was perfect, although Dan really wanted to sleep in. My Mom and Dad also walked the 5K (3.1 miles) while Dan ran it and then waited on me while I ran the 15K (9.3 miles). I like starting my Thanksgiving with a run then when we stuff ourselves later in the day, I don't feel as guilty!

For Thanksgiving dinner, we went to the Kennerly house on Bradfordville Road for appetizers at 3:00pm (olives, cheese, hummus with pita chips, gershins - spicy and sweet, and marinated mushrooms) then dinner at 4:00pm. Dinner this year included turkey, of course, gravy, green bean casserole, squash casserole, oyster dressing, stuffin' muffins, velvety mashed potatoes with mushroom sauce, cranberry sauce and wine jelly. We topped it all off with coffee and pecan pie and were stuffed and exhausted by 6:00pm! This is my favorite holiday of the year since running and eating are my two favorite things to do. Happy Thanksgiving to all of those we didn't get to see or talk to this holiday.
