Marathon PR

February 13 isn't a significant day most of the time, but this year, it was. I trained for the last 3-4 months to run a 4 hour marthon on March 5, 2011 at the Snickers Marathon in Albany, GA. The Donna marathon in Jacksonville this past Sunday was technically a "training" run as I approached my goal race. But the Donna is so inspiring with breast cancer survivors, family members and friends all running for the cause (100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research) in all shades of pink and slogans on their backs, I couldn't resist and went for my goal early...and accomplished it! 4:00 on the dot and 257th to finish the marathon out of 10,000 competing (not all in the marathon, some in the half, some in the relay). It was a great day, perfect weather, wonderful running friends to share the experience with, and PRs (personal best times) for lots of us who came from Tallahassee. February 14 might be a day remembered by some people each year, but February 13 will now be my anniversary of the day I did what I never thought possible.
(I especially thank my Mom and Tiffany for being my traveling buddies, roommates, and personal cheering section along the course. XXOO)
